After learning about cultural competence, completing the Cultural Self-Assessment and the Cultural Competence Assessment, and visiting the U.S. Census Bureau website to identify the cultural attributes (including language usage) of the population of patients that you care for, or the community in which you live, share what you learned about yourself with regard to how you relate to various groups of people in society (please do not feel like you have to share your detailed personal results). Identify at least three strategies for developing your cultural competence during this course and the impact that increased competency could potentially have on the quality and safety of nursing care that you provide.
2. Using the Office of Minority Health Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) by Health Care Organizations (list in Andrews & Boyle, 2016, p. 50), present the findings of your assessment of a clinical agency or department. Explain how an agency or department practices align with at least 5 of the standards.
