Samsara is a film that exhibited cultural images without much context. Each of us found beauty and ugliness in the images, some of which we understood and others we did not. In the sections below, describe the following:

1. Something that you found beautiful in the film where you did have the cultural background to understand it more deeply. Why was it beautiful? Does that beauty come at the expense of an individual, group, or the environment?
2. Something you found beautiful for which you did not have the cultural background. Why was it beautiful? How would you go about gaining a deeper understanding (think like an anthropologist!)?
3. Something that you found ugly in the film where you did have the cultural background to understand it more deeply. Given what you have learned in this course, is it good or bad to see it as ugly?
