For a training evaluation of the ADAPP, a summative and formative evaluation design would be most appropriate. Summative evaluations measure the effectiveness of the training program by examining whether or not it has led to an increase in desired supervisory behaviours and a decrease in employee absence and workplace accidents/injuries. Formative evaluations identify what aspects of the program could use improvement in order for it to be more effective.
A mixed methods approach would be best for collecting this type of data as it combines both quantitative (numerical) data from surveys and tests with qualitative (narratives) data through interviews or focus groups conducted with supervisors who have gone through the program as well as employees whose supervisors have been trained via the ADAPP. This will provide insight into potential areas where improvements can be made to make the program even more successful.
