My leadership style is focused largely on emotional intelligence and understanding people’s perspectives, helping build trust between me and those who I lead. To further this relationship-building process, I am an active listener– listening intently before jumping into problem-solving mode – which allows me to gain insight into how people think so that my solutions can be tailored accordingly. Additionally, while I set high standards for those around me, I also take care not to overwhelm them; instead fostering an environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing their ideas without fear of criticism or judgment. In order for these relationships to flourish though strong communication practices are essential – so open dialogue about successes and failures is something that should always take place in our team meetings.
In Part I of this Performance Task, you will complete a leadership inventory and reflect on your own leadership style and temperament. You will use this information to complete Part II, a Performance Task, in which you take on the role of a director at an early childhood care center who is responsible for leading change and dealing with ethical dilemmas.
In terms of temperament traits related to leadership styles, research suggests that my personality type (INFJ) falls under the Inspirational category – meaning that my primary focus is on motivating others through encouraging words and setting vision-oriented goals rather than focusing solely on obtaining tangible results or getting things done quickly (as might be more common with a directive leader). While this may mean that progress can sometimes occur at a slower pace due to lack of concrete action steps being taken immediately upon brainstorming ideas – when objectives have been discussed in detail plans tend turn out better overall because roles are understood more clearly at implementation stage.. Furthermore – since INFJs are often known for their empathizing qualities – this helps foster a caring environment were employees feel heard & respected creating a safe space overall which helps promote creativity & innovation within teams too!
