Chapter 1- An Introduction to My Life

My name is Ana, and I’m writing this memoir as a way of looking back on my life and reflecting on the many experiences that have shaped who I am today. Growing up in a small rural town in Central America meant that our lives revolved around nature, which has had an incredible influence on me. When I was young, we looked to nature for food, shelter, and spiritual guidance. We were surrounded by lush rainforests where we would go foraging for fruits and vegetables or hunt wild game. Every morning we’d wake up listening to the sound of birds singing from the trees outside our windows or crickets chirping at night. The smells of the tropical plants were intoxicating—both calming and invigorating at once.

These moments instilled in me a love for nature and appreciation for its bounty that continues with me even now far away from home. Being exposed to so much natural beauty also gave me insights into how all living things are connected in one great circle of life. Even though so much has changed since then, these lessons still guide my actions today in everything from the way I interact with other people to how I care for the environment around me.

The stories told by my elders during my childhood are some of my fondest memories; they taught us values such as humility, respectfulness, kindness towards others -all things that remain dear to me until this day despite all changes that have taken place throughout my life journey so far..
