For this lesson plan, I have selected a student from the observed classroom who would benefit from a differentiated lesson plan using the ITBS. This student is an 8th grade female who has been diagnosed with mild autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and struggles with communication skills as well as problem-solving abilities. She also exhibits difficulty focusing on tasks for extended periods of time without prompting or redirection from adults.
The purpose of this lesson plan is to build the student’s skills in the areas assessed by the ITBS while gathering more information about her current level of performance using both formative and summative assessments. To begin, I will introduce her to different components of the ITBS by having her complete a practice test that covers math, reading comprehension, language arts, science, and social studies questions at her own pace within one hour. After she completes each section of the test I will ask her questions about what she found challenging about it before giving her feedback on any errors or inaccuracies she made so that she can understand why certain answers are correct and incorrect. Additionally, I will provide additional practice problems throughout our sessions so that she can become more comfortable with answering various types of questions on such tests and gain confidence with taking them in general.
Standardized Assessment Lesson Plan
Finally once all topics covered by the ITBS have been introduced properly through instructional activities combined with formative assessment exercises ,I will administer a summative assessment based off similar content/questions seen during previous class work or practices tests completed previously .This allows me to see if there was any improvement from when we first began working together up until now . If progression has been made then instruction may no longer need to take place whereas if there doesn’t appear to be much progress then further intervention may need consideration for continued development
Overall ,this lesson plan aims at helping students like mine who are struggling academically due their disabilities successfully prepare for taking standardized tests like those found on the ITBS while building their knowledge base through formative assessments along its journey towards success via summative assessment measures provided upon completion.
